As part of your home theater or basement bar project, adding a bathroom could be a smart move so that your guests don’t have to spend too long away from the poker table or the silver screen. For the exercise enthusiasts, adding a shower room to a basement gym could streamline your workout.
Of course, if you’re adding a guest suite or other more private space in your basement such as a home office, adding an additional bathroom could be an absolute necessity. Whichever it is, we are ready to take on your job.
In order to fit a bathroom into a basement, gravity dictates that there are some physical requirements. The waste water from bathroom appliances has to go somewhere, preferably downwards. So either you need to already have a pre-existing drain in your basement in the right area for the bathroom, or we can add an additional drain or sump pump if required.
An additional drain can only be added so long as there is enough vertical drop between the drain area and your local sewage system’s inlet, otherwise a pump will be required. You’ll also want to make sure there is proper ventilation for your basement bathroom, most easily done by siting it against an exterior wall, but we can add more complex ventilation systems for interior areas if you require it.
We have fifty years of combined experience in Toronto home renovations, so we know all the common pitfalls to be avoided while adding your basement bathroom, including the all-important plumbing issues of course but also any local code requirements for outlets, and even design and layout issues that could otherwise compromise your end result. And of course, all of our work is backed by our comprehensive, worry-free five year warranty so you have peace of mind in everything we do. Call us now or request a free estimate.
